Oak Tree Simulations produces Micromatic which is a web-based simulation game that is ideal for training your management
team. Micromatic allows employees o experience the kinds of issues and decisions involved in managing a manufacturing
operation. The company can sell products in three sales regions. The players must have a coordinated
strategy (e.g., marketing, operations and finance are in sync) to achieve success.
Use it to train new leaders:
Often managers are not exposed to other areas of the business, as they were promoted up the ranks. This simulation
allows them to try these new skills in a safe environment to experience real world results without the risk.
Micromatic has decision cycles (pretend quarters of operation) where the employee will see the impact of the
market, competitors and environment on their decisions. They then go into another decision round, where outside
factors will impact their next decisions.
Help is available to the employees in many ways. There is a manual, online help and in context help (i) which is
applicable to the task they are in. The employee can get the knowledge they need, when they need it.
They often don’t realize they are learning as they are playing the game.
When using the Micromatic Business Simulation Game, you will:
- Decide your company mission, goals, policies, and strategies.
- Develop skills in planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and controlling a business.
- Make decisions in the areas of:
- Marketing, including market research and sales forecasts.
- Finance, including short-term and long-term loans.
- Manufacturing, including raw materials, production, scheduling, staffing, and inventory control.
- Have the opportunity to ask "what-if" questions by entering a sales estimate and seeing what the results of your decisions would be given this level of sales.
- See the results of your decisions and have an opportunity to correct mistakes in the following quarters of operation.

Use it for Team Building:
Micromatic is a game that is ideal for team building events. The game keeps track of all of the activity, and
allows you to throw in twists that may be applicable to your environment. Many companies have kept the organizational groups
in groups (Marketing Team, Operations Team, Finance Team), while others mix it up.
The game can be used for an offsite event in the evenings, or on Friday afternoons for a longer period of time.
Oak Tree Simulation professors are available to facilitate, or just support.
Micromatic is extremely flexible and can mimic the market conditions and events that the facilitator chooses.
